Our Veterinarians

Dr. Wendy Korver D.V.M.
I decided that I wanted to be a veterinarian at the tender age of 3 years, and have never regretted it! I graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1987 (I am a bit older than 3 now....), and have worked at the Bowmanville Veterinary Clinic ever since, first as an associate veterinarian, then as a partner in 1993, and now since 2009, as owner of this lovely establishment! I have also been the veterinarian and Director of Research for the Bowmanville Zoo since 1987.
I consider myself to be one of the luckiest people in the world. Not only do I get to interact with a wide variety of incredible animals every day, but I work with the most amazing team of people anyone could ever ask for. We are fascinated by the remarkable complexity and depth of the human animal bond, and every day we work to try to enrich and lengthen that bond. At Bowmanville Veterinary Clinic, our top priorities are excellent client communication, and high quality, compassionate medical care. We regularly have clinic meetings and attend conferences in order to update ourselves on the latest information available in veterinary medicine. Our clinic also subscribes to the internet based Veterinary Information Network, which allows us to get input from Board Certified veterinarians from around the world on the most up-to-date treatments available to your pet. On a more personal note, I have special interests in both surgery and exotic animal medicine. In my somewhat sparse spare time, I love going for a walk with my ever energetic Jack Russell Terrier, Mickey, and spending time with my husband Michael, and my two teenage boys, Kurt and Dirk.
Please never hesitate to contact me at any time if you have any questions or concerns.

Dr. Helen Koseck D.V.M.
I graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1996 and have worked in small animal practice since then. In 2003 I found myself in the fortunate position of being able to join the Bowmanville Veterinary Clinic team. I am so thankful to be able to work with such a wonderful and dedicated group of people. Veterinary medicine is my passion and I can’t think of a better place to practice high quality medicine than at this clinic. I especially enjoy dentistry, soft tissue surgery and exotic animal practice, including the sick and injured wildlife come through the practice. I love spending my time outside of work with my husband and my 3 children; Emily, Ethan and Ben. My family and I adore our crazy Standard Poodle, Hannah; our geriatric cat, Sydney; our dwarf rabbit, Biscuit and our hamster, Yogi. Outside of work I enjoy swimming, gardening, working on my fish pond and camping.

Dr. Brigitte Rudolf D.V.M.
I graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2002. Shortly after I moved to Vancouver to work in an emergency clinic and in an ICU of a referral hospital. In 2008 my husband and I moved back to Ontario to be closer to family and live in a more rural setting. After looking for the perfect practice I was thrilled to join the team at the Bowmanville Veterinary Clinic in April 2009. I feel fortunate to be part of such a great team, and be able to practice high quality medicine and offer excellent care to all my patients. I feel lucky to have a job I love that gives me so much fullfillment on a daily basis. I have a special interest in emergency medicine, surgery and exotic medicine. When not at work I help my husband on our sheep farm east of Orono. Our farm is shared with our border collies Jake and Blue, our sheep guardian dogs Maggie, Saiko and Romelus, our cats Maxine and Sam and my horses Frodo and Tristan. When not spending time with my animals or at work I enjoy hiking, reading, pottery, gardening and travelling.

Dr. Lauren Brownell D.V.M.
I graduated from the Western College of Veterinary medicine in Saskatoon in 2008. Originally from Winnipeg, I moved out to the GTA with my husband where I started out working in a small animal practice. I was lucky to become a part of the Bowmanville Veterinary team in September of 2010, where I’ve been happy to practice nothing but the gold standard in veterinary medicine. It was immediately apparent that the staff shared my devotion to the well-being of all animals, and I feel privileged to fit in with such a wonderful team. My work interests include behaviour, exotics and ultrasound. Outside of work I enjoy backpacking, carting and ski joring with my three dogs, as well as gardening and farming organic/wild foods. My husband and I share our home with 3 giant breed dogs: Hunter, our German Shepherd/Great Dane mix; Hudson, our Great Dane; and Vern, our Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, together with Tia, our ragdoll cat, Ivan, our Eclectus parrot, Mort our large green iguana, as well as Juno and Luna, our two cockatiels.
Our Practice Manager

Sandra McBride
I am honoured to be a part of this magnificent team. I graduated from
York
University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1992 and began a career in Finance Administration, but my true passion came calling and I began working here in June 2004. It is a pleasure to work in an environment dedicated to the health and well being of animals and to work with such an amazing, compassionate caring group of people. All of the staff here understand and appreciate the human animal bond and work tirelessly to promote and strengthen that bond. I especially enjoy nursing stray and injured wildlife back to health, my family jokes they never know what I am going to bring home from work, I say it's the perks of my job! I am delighted to share my home with my two dogs; Saoirse and Higgins, my cat Clifford and my Holland Lop rabbit Hamish as well as my husband Liam and son Eamon. If you ever have any questions or comments please contact me or stop in for a chat!

Our Veterinary Assistants

Lori Dewsbury
I have been working here since August 2001 as a veterinary assistant and receptionist. I enjoy spending time with my two children, two step daughters my husband and of course our cat Tuffy. I love being outside anytime of year, walking in the woods with my daughters 6 dogs, working in the garden or relaxing on the beach. My favourite thing about working at the clinic is the reward of nursing sick animals back to health and seeing them go home with their happy families.

Joanne Mulder
I have been lucky enough to be part of the Bowmanville Veterinary Clinic team since October 2004. I am fortunate that I am able to work in the treatment room helping through surgeries and with patients that are admitted to the hospital. I also work at the reception desk where I get to greet the clients and meet their pets. I look forward to coming to work each day as I learn something new everyday and working with others that love every animal as much as I do. I live with my husband and our new baby Golden Retreiver, Gemma. I have two grown children who I spend alot of time with.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. Having worked in the auto industry as well as the airline industry, I can definitely say that my 20 years at Bowmanville Veterinary Clinic have been the most interesting and gratifying of my working career. I continue to be humbled by the human/animal bond I witness every day. My life away from the clinic involves my three grown children, my three cats, as well as exercise, sports, community theatre and lots and lots of reading.

Vicki Leveille
I consider myself very fortunate to have been a part of the Bowmanville team since July 1998. I studied graphic design in College and then went on to work for Bell Canada and Ontario Hydro for a number of years. My husband and and I moved to Bowmanville in 1977 and raised our two daughters here. We now enjoy spending our spare time with our children and grandchildren. Unfortunately due to family allergies I am unable to have animals at home, but enjoy sharing my desk and chair space with one of our resident cats, Carter. Or just maybe........Carter is sharing HIS space with me!

Lori Hellam
I began working at the clinic in July 1998 as a receptionist. I love my role at the clinic as I enjoy welcoming and interacting with all of our clients and their pets. Sitting on my lap in the picture with me is Remy my 5 year old miniature poodle who I was lucky enough to be able to rescue after he was surrendered to the clinic because his owners could no longer care for him. He is the best dog ever! Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going to the gym, hiking, camping, and riding my motorcycle.

Laurie Hancock
I finally decided what I wanted to do when I grew up when I started at the clinic in October of 2005. It is the most rewarding and fulfilling position I have ever held, there is nothing like wagging tails and puppy breath. Outside of work I enjoy crafting, camping and hiking with my family, husband, Dave and children Graham (17) and Emily (15). As well as my family I also share my home with two ShihTzu's George and Gus, cat, Guinevere and two red eared sliders, Frank and Fred.

William is our black cat, he is 17 years old and doing great for his age. He came to us as an 8 month old stray and has called us home ever since. He is well loved by everyone at the clinic and clients alike. His favourite sleeping spot is in his baskets above our filing shelves in the front reception area. He never lets us forget when it is meal time!
